Nothing New - Do You Want to Play Dead Friend, Mrs. Sue? (!)

This is how a recent Monday began at school for me. I began my day with morning recess and one of my 4K friends approached me and asked, “Do you want to play dead friend, Mrs. Sue?”

What?! Sounds a bit morbid. Not knowing where the conversation would go I ventured, “How do you play dead friend?”

“Well, one of us has to be dead on the ground. Then other people come in the ambulance and are nice to the person. They take them to the hospital. They’re kind. Then you have another dead friend and be nice to them. It’s easy!”

With his squeaky voice and deep brown eyes, my little friend stated something we all need to hear.

Be nice to people.

Be kind.

It’s easy.
